The construction of Melody’s House of Hope brings a new home away from home for patients in active treatment for cancer while they are in the Spokane area. With an estimated completion date set for 2017, we are thrilled to see our dream become reality over the next several months.
We have big dreams and a big heart for this project.
The house will have 6 bedrooms with double occupancy for a maximum accommodation of 12 individuals at a time. There will be a full kitchen to cook meals, an open and comfortable living area, and a laundry facility.
Melody’s House of Hope is being built close to medical facilities and there is no charge to stay during treatments. We are building the project completely with the comfort of patients in mind.
Dig in and help.
If you’re as excited as we are, you may be looking for a way to jump in and help. At the moment, we are looking for individuals to sponsor each room in the house, provide building supplies as well as builders, contractors and sub-contractors to help with the actual construction. We would love as much community involvement as we can get and there’s no time better than now to hop right in and help. Contact us at btih@becausethereishope.org to get started.
This project wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of this community.
We want to acknowledge Cancer Care Northwest for donating the property. Without them, Melody’s House of Hope wouldn’t be located in such an easy proximity to treatment.
We also thank Garco Construction for the architectural design, Mark Peterson with KXLY Extreme Team and Lance Pounder Excavation, Lloyd Burchett of Mountain Utilities, Cannon Hills for clearing the lot and the Washington State Surveyors Association for surveying the lot.
We are so excited about sharing the progress with you.
Follow along as we share updates and photos as we go!
