Providing hope, healing, and a safe haven for those touched by cancer.

Supporting a community of fighters as they make the journey to overcoming cancer.

For years, Because There is Hope has connected patrons with host homes to ease the burden of travel, with aspirations to offer a space of their own for comfort. In August of 2013, this dream became a reality with the acquisition of a home that was dedicated in memory of Melody’s dear friend, Faye McLain.

Hospitality House became the cornerstone of the BTIH’s outreach.  Offering safe haven in physical form; a warm and inviting four-bedroom, three-bathroom residence in the Spokane Valley. Seeking to create a home away from home for those commuting long-distance to be treated, the house includes a fully-equipped kitchen, laundry facilities, and a common area for reading, relaxing, and watching television. The house accommodates up to three patrons at a time, along with an on-site manager.

How to Stay

We are honored to be able to host three patients and their caregivers at the Hospitality House.

Guests must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Patient is in active treatment for cancer
  • Other lodging options have been exhausted and paying for a hotel would cause financial hardship
  • Patient’s permanent residence must be more than 50 miles from the treatment facility

For the comfort and safety of our residents, Hospitality House is a smoke and alcohol-free environment. Pets are not allowed, however, service animals may be allowed and must be disclosed in the inquiry/application process.

Help Us Build Melody’s House of Hope

Because There is Hope is committed to offering hope and support for every patient in need, but the need is greater than one home can provide. In an ongoing mission to extend their reach throughout the cancer community, BTIH has begun plans for the construction of a new hospitality house for in-treatment patients.

We can’t do it alone. Volunteers, sponsors, donors, builders, contractors and much more are needed to help fulfill the next piece of Melody Biehl’s dream for hope and healing. To express your interest in donating or supporting in any way, please contact us.
